Gifts and Graces Fair Trade Foundation is a social enterprise that supports the livelihood programs of marginalized groups. We partner with NGOs and their beneficiaries, cooperatives, and people's organizations. Gifts and Graces improves the products of its partners through product development and design. Gifts and Graces then helps its partners earn income through marketing and market access. Lastly, Gifts and Graces helps improve production capacity and overall quality through capability building and training.
Gifts and Graces is currently partnered with 15 marginalized groups including former prison inmates,
urban poor men and women, streetchildren, former migrant workers to Japan, persons with disabilities, and special needs individuals. The products made by Gifts and Graces products are home decor items such as pillows, aprons, candles; fashion accessories such as bags and charms; puzzles and games, baskets, journals and many more.
Through these activities, Gifts and Graces is able to improve general living conditions and the quality
of life of many marginalized groups by helping them earn income through production. At the same
time, workers gain pride and self-esteem for the work that they do and for not receiving a hand out but
a hand up.

THE SELECTION PANEL
Asia 21 Public Service Award
AIM Building
Makati City
Dear Sir/Madam:
Warm greetings from FCED Foundation!
I have the honor to formally express our support for the nomination of Gifts and Graces
Fair Trade Foundation, Inc. for the Asia 21 2009 Public Service Award. I strongly believe
that Gifts and Graces deserves the award due to its strong dedication and commitment to reach out,
uplift and empower the urban poorest of the poor in our society through its partnership with several
non-government organizations (NGOs) all over the country, to include our organization,
FCED Foundation Inc.
Gifts and Graces has been a major partner of FCED Foundation, Inc. for two years now
in providing livelihood support to about 80 urban poor families distributed in 10
barangays (Brgys. 823, 824, 825, 827, 842, 843, 844, 849, 850, 853) in Paco and
Pandacan in the city of Manila through its Micro-Enterprise Development (MED) Program.
Aside from providing technical assistance to our family-benefeciaries by conducting skills
training on income-generating activities as well as product development, Gifts and Graces
has consistently been placing orders of items produced by these families and distributing
them to its clients. In its two years of partnership, 90% of items produced and sold by
FCED through its MED Program has been through the support of Gifts and Graces.
The assistance provided by Gifts and Graces to FCED Foundation and to its program
beneficiaries has brought significant improvements in the lives of these families who
belong to urban poorest of the poor and do not have a regular source of income. Their
earnings from their production has enabled them to provide for their basic needs with a
significant percentage being able to send their children to school. At the same time,
Gifts and Graces also assist in providing training and seminars to program beneficiaries
to help them become self-sustaining.
With the continued support of Gifts and Graces, we believe that FCED will be able to reach
out to more of our families and their children living in the slum areas and help
them to rebuild their dreams and their lives.
Thank you so much and we wish you success in your programs.
Sincerely yours,

RE: Asia Society's Asia 21 Young Leader's Initiative 2009 Public Service Award (PSA)
We hereby support the nomination of Gifts And Graces Fair Trade Foundation, Inc. for the Asia
29 2009 PSA due to the following contributions they have made to Kaibhan, Inc. as beneficiary
to their cause:
Up to this date since 2007, we have received P600, 137.67 in gross sales from their orders
of products which includes throw pilow cases, corporate bags, towels and other linen with
embroideries. These orders have made considerable impact to the lives of women sewers in
Malanday, Coloong and Dalandanan towns of Valenzuela in terms of additional income to their
families. They were able to cope in payment of tuition fees for their children as well as
additional food on their table.
Gifts and Graces also conducted a seminar training which were helpful in providing the right
mind set and tools needed to produce, manage and enhance skills to create successful end
results. These 4-day training program gave a clearer direction to us as beneficiary NGO towards
our goals for our own livelihood program as well as Gifts and Graces' goals to assist us
towards the economic empowerment and upliftment of our women beneficiaries.
We acknowledge, appreciate and are grateful for the continuing services and support that
Gifts and Graces Fair Trade Foundation Inc. has been providing our NGO.
Respectfully yours,
MARY MARGARET GALIT
